Hi Lara,
I’m new to food photography and yours is one of the first blogs I found and fell in love with. Thank you for all the great info. you share. I didn’t even know you were at the conference! I’m also doing a few blog posts about it (http://blog.staceycramp.com) and it was interesting to see we picked out a lot of the same people to mention. Now I’m really sorry I didn’t elect to stick around for Francine and Deborah’s workshop! Can’t wait to hear more about that. Thanks again.

I was scheduled to attend but wasn’t able at the last minute, so it’s nice to see a bit of what was missed.

Thanks Lara for sharing this!
I can hardly wait for your next post.

I was so happy to connect with you at the conference Lara. I am trying to write a post about it as we speak and there are so many thoughts floating around in my head that I am having a hard time putting in all in a cohesive way. Loved going over it through your perspective. Hopefully we will get to do it again soon!

Hi Lara,

I’m brand new to the world of blogging and food photography so your post about this conference is really insightful. Thanks for taking the time to summarize the entire event, I can only imagine how inspirational it must have been to see so many beautiful shots and the new ideas it sparked off. I’m going to attempt your June remake challenge later this week and will keep Christopher/Melissa’s points in mind.

Looking forward to more posts!
Danielle

I just found your blog thru Aran’s and I was so waiting for her to write up what went thru the conference.. This would have been something I’d dream about.. I am just an architect , but lately I fell in love with ” FOOD ARCHITECTURE” .. and it figures out to be food styling!

I have read every word you and Aran wrote about the conference.. and almost clicked every link. I am so passionate about this ,, only If I had the chances as you girls do. I live far away and all I can do is ONLINE readings and educating my self thru this!

Thank you so much for sharing Lara! this had made my day!

I’m ready to scream because I didn’t register for this conference. I had no idea it was going to be this valuable. Thanks for your thoughtful write up. It sounds like you guys had a blast.

Lara,
Oh I pondered and pondered registering for this conference, and ended up deciding it would be too hectic to cram it in this year, but it’s already in my calendar to go next time it’s offered. And I’ve never been to Boston, so hopefully will be able to tack on a couple of days for exploring. So great to read your wrap-up, if you’ve got more, I will check back to read that too!

Hope all is well,
~ j

I found out about the conference a couple of months ago and wish I could have gone. (Airfare from Utah was around $400+ at the time). Anyway, I am so glad for you that you were able to go. Of course, I am also glad for me because you are sharing such great information.

I just found your blog through Twitter, but had to say ‘hi’.

The conference was so inspiring and overwhelming. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and photos. I signed up for the other Monday workshop so I was anxious to hear about the workshop at Zaslow’s studio. Sounds like it was great. Its a shame that both hands-on workshops were happening simultaneously.

Hi Lara – I stumbled upon this post while searching for some information on Christopher Hirsheimer’s camera equipment. I fell in love with her photos in David Tanis’ book “A Platter of Figs and Other Recipes”. Do you have any idea which camera she used to take the photos in that book? It looks like film. Many thanks in advance!

What a great sounding conference. A lot of the great contemporary Food shooters were there. My first job as a photo assistant was with Jim Scherer in Boston. I loved his Boston Globe work, he’s so talented! I also remember meeting with Francine Zaslow. So inspiring.
I’m so glad I found your blog : )
